To meet customer requirement during highways project progress, tracked excavators are often swapped for wheeled excavators to improve manoeuvrability, cover ground faster and protect surfaces. To support our customers in delivering the finished product, we have continued to develop our drivers to improve their abilities on wheeled excavators.
This training and assessment also opens up career growth opportunities for our operators. Gez Bonner, Plant Operator Trainer explains: "as a plant operator myself, it has been great to help and support these drivers in developing their skills. One thing I always want to do is better myself and progress in life, so working with our operators every day is a learning opportunity for them and for me. It’s great to not only support our customer’s project requirements but also better our operator’s careers. A great well done to all of the machine drivers striving to grow their careers in plant".
Mark Coyle, Lynch Operator working on the M4 is a great example of an operator that has come through the training programme. He shares that "career progression isn't something that you experience as a plant operator, so working for Lynch has been a breath of fresh air. They have invested time and money in my future which I appreciate, and will repay them with continuing my ‘can-do’ attitude and hard work on the M4 and any future projects."

Lynch Director, Chris Gill adds: "investing in our people and supporting our customers are priorities for us, especially during these difficult times. Ongoing driver development, improvement of site safety, and forward thinking are vital for the delivery of these road improving infrastructure projects".
